Meet Ben Samuels

Ben Samuels is a businessperson, an economic policy expert, and a bipartisan problem-solver running for Congress in Missouri’s 2nd Congressional District.

Raised with the values of family, hard work, and a love for the St. Louis Cardinals, Ben’s family has called Missouri home for six generations. On his father’s side of the family is a long line of St. Louis entrepreneurs and civic leaders, including his grandmother Kit, who started her own travel agency, and his great-great grandfather Edward, who opened a small shoe shop, Samuels Shoe Company, in St. Louis in 1913. That small shoe shop grew into a successful manufacturing business, eventually employing hundreds of people, and was family-run for three generations.

Following family tradition, Ben started his career in business, working at a start-up that was later acquired by Mastercard. But equally inspired by his family’s long-standing commitment to giving back to their community, and concerned about the direction the country was headed, Ben turned to public service and put his private sector skills to work around the country. He advised leaders in both parties on how to make government more efficient. At the City of Chicago, he saved taxpayers money through good governance work. Later, Ben was an adviser to Governor Charlie Baker in Massachusetts, where he led an economic recovery initiative after the pandemic hit. While in the Governor’s office, Ben also coordinated a bipartisan coalition of 14 governors on a joint initiative to invest in clean energy technology, fight climate change, create thousands of jobs, and improve transportation infrastructure. After the attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, Ben knew that now was the time for him to put his experience to work.

Ben is running for Congress to bring a bipartisan, problem solving spirit to Washington and deliver results for the community his family has long called home. Ben knows firsthand that the best way to improve people’s lives is by working across the aisle, and in Congress, he’ll support small businesses, get people back to work, and create the next generation of good-paying jobs here in Missouri.
